So you want to start your own blog?
That sound’s great!
You’re at the right place to start your first blog. I created this website to help people like you to start your own blog without having any prior knowledge about web designing or programming skills.
This is a complete beginners guide, wherein you’ll learn from scratch to end process of blogging, and all of this information is free of cost.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s start building something new.
Before we proceed further with the steps of building a new blog, let’s first choose the right blogging platform for your blog site such as WordPress.com.
There are a lot of different blogging platforms in the market, that you can choose to start your blog. Per my recommendation, WordPress is the best platform for people who are serious about starting a new blog.
All of my own websites are built on WordPress platform including this website (Consulblogg.com).
The reason why I recommend WordPress because WordPress is the number #1 content management system or online blogging platform in the world. Powering more than 30% of the internet, WordPress provides everything you need to create a blog that is both beautiful and powerful.
WordPress has a wealth of themes, add-ons, and plugins to add new styles and functionality to your blog, giving you nearly limitless options on customization and super easy for you to set up on your own.
Why you shouldn’t start your blog on a free blogging platform?
- Registering your blog on self-hosted blogging platform looks more professional than having your blog on a free blogging website. Example : (consulblogg.website.com) or (consulblogg.com)
- Having a self-hosted blogging platform means you are in complete control of your own website and content.
If I would be at your place, I’d start with a self-hosted blog on my own domain from day one. Setting up your own blog like (Consulblogg.com) is pretty much easier and cost-effective than you might think.
Let’s begin with the process of building a new blog site with 3 simple steps:
Step 1: Get a Domain Name and Web Hosting service
First, you need to choose your website name, which suits your blog. For example (YourBlogName.com) or (YourName.com).
For my website (Consulblogg), I chose (Consulblogg.com).
You can opt for several other domain name extensions such as .net, .org, .info, .co, .tech etc.
Now the first question comes in your mind is that – how to purchase a domain name that suits your blog website?
Here is the good news – you don’t need to pay for a domain name for your blog website.
I’m going to show you how to get a suitable domain name for free of cost.
Many of you might already be knowing the fact that Bluehost web hosting is officially recommended by WordPress. Bluehost comes up with an excellent package that includes FREE Domain Name + Web Hosting + FREE SSL security + 1-Click WordPress Install, which is a big deal.
Once you click on “Get Started Now,” you’ll be taken to a page to select your suitable web hosting plan.
I would recommend you to go for Bluehost basic package which is a great choice for new blogger’s. It is the cheapest package to start a new blog and helps you to save your hard-earned money.
Bluehost is one of the best web hosting providers that offer Free SSL Certificate with all of its packages including basic plan. SSL Certificate is important for your website security and allows your domain name to start with HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) and show up as (Secure) with a green padlock next to the URL in a browser.
Complete Your Registration
Once you’ve chosen your suitable hosting plan and found a domain name for your blog website, you’ll need to register it by putting in your contact and billing information on the “create your account” page within the account information section.
Once you’re done with the registration details, then you would need to enter the payment information and click on submit button.
After successful registration, you’ll have to create your new password and you’re all set with your blog name and online identity. Now follow up with the next step.
Step 2. Install your WordPress Blog and login to WordPress panel
After successful registration on Bluehost, the option to install WordPress with one click will be available to you in your customer control panel.
When you log in to your WordPress account, you’ll see a dashboard or admin panel that looks something like this:
Once you’re done with the WordPress installation, then you would start working on the setup and customization of the blog. As you can see, it was really easy and straightforward. Now follow up with the next step to customize your blog.
Choose Your Blog Design (Themes or Template)
In order to start your blog, you’ll have to select your preferred blogging template design, which you can easily get in your WordPress panel. There are over thousands of professionally designed free themes to choose from so you’ve got a lot of options.
In order to find and Install your preferred template you’ll have to mouse-over the “Appearance” tab in the WordPress sidebar, then click on “Themes”.
When you’ve found a theme you like, then click on “Install”. Once the theme has been installed, all that’s left to do is click “Activate” on the next screen. Now, You’re all set to share your first blog.
Step 3: Write and Share your first Blog post
WordPress makes it easy to create a blog post. To add a new blog post on WordPress, you’ll have to click the “Posts” section on the left-hand side-menu, then click on “Add New”.
Once clicked on “Add New” option then you’ll get a screen, which will look something like the screen below:
You can add your blog post heading in the title bar and enter your blog post content in the text box below the post heading. You can also add some more elements (Like adding Images, links, Headers & editing text) to your post to make it more catchy for your valuable reader’s.
Once you’re done with the writing, then you can save your post in the draft or publish your content live on the internet by using the Publish box menu.
As you can see, this is all pretty simple for anyone who has worked with Microsoft Word before. Now, it’s time to make your blog a success.
Congratulations! You’re all set with your first official blog, which means that we’ve reached at the end of this free tutorial.
