What is Cloud Computing Technology – General Overview

Cloud Computing overview:

Cloud computing is a terminology referring to various computing services- like online storage, virtual databases, web servers, Computer networking and web analytic services. Various Companies providing these online services are also known as cloud providers and typically charge for these online services based on their usage and mobility. Almost every online service can live in the cloud and cloud computing services are making all of these possible behinds the scenes such as, sending email, watching online movies or videos, playing online games, listen to music or storing pictures and other files over the cloud storage infrastructure.

Type of cloud services:

  • Infrastructure-as-a-service  (IaaS)
  • Platform as a service  (PaaS)
  • Software as a service  (SaaS)

Different ways of cloud computing deployment over the Internet:

1. Public cloud

Public cloud deployment based on the standard cloud computing model, used for the provisioning of online storage and computational services available to the general public over the internet. It is an online marketplace, wherein various companies provide resources like online storage, virtual machines (VMs), applications or software, may be free or offered on a pay-per-usage model.

2. Private cloud

Private cloud deployment based on a model of cloud computing, where information services are provisioned over the private IT infrastructure for a dedicated use of a single organization. It involves a distinct and secure cloud-based environment which can be managed and operate only via specified internal resources.

3. Hybrid cloud

Hybrid cloud deployment utilizes both public and private cloud services to perform distinct functions within the same organization. It allows informational data and applications to be shared between them and gives greater business flexibility and enhanced online deployment options.

Various advantages of cloud computing infrastructure:

  • Secure and Reliable
  • Cost-effective
  • Flexible storage option
  • Fast reachability
  • Global scale
  • Boost Productivity
  • Enhanced Performance
